Cleaning WARNING: A lot of washing labels in dresses say specialist dry clean or light dry clean etc. Caution must be applied when choosing a dry cleaner, as normal dry cleaning methods are to be avoided as beads and sequins can be damaged or melt and ruin a dress. A specialist dry cleaner will know how to treat the embellishments and remove or specially cover the bead and sequin embellishments prior to any cleaning process.

Dry cleaners vary in their methods, so we only advise using one you know well and who is a specialist in delicate dresses with embellishments. Check that they are confident they will not melt or destroy the beads or sequins, which can mark and ruin your dress!

Walk in Wardrobe will not accept responsibility for problems arising as a result of post sale cleaning of dresses. All such problems should be referred back to the dry cleaner that completed the process.

The following alternative cleaning options are guidelines only and ones that we have found useful over the years.

We have found hand washing some dresses made from tulle, mesh, netting, taffeta or jersey in cold water to be quite successful. We have spot cleaned marks off gently with diluted non-bio washing machine liquid then shower down with cold water, keeping the dress hanging at all times. Leaving to drip dry in a well-ventilated area so that air circulates while the dress is drying.

Another method, which has also been successfully tried by some of our customers, is putting the dress inside out in a washing machine care net bag on delicate hand wash on COLD water.out in a washing machine care net bag on delicate hand wash on COLD water.
